Usage

  • Traditionally used in Ayurveda to help relieve symptoms such as heartburn and indigestion associated with Amlapitta (hyperacidity/dyspepsia).
  • Traditionally used in Ayurveda as a digestive tonic to promote digestive fire, increase appetite and aid in digestion (stomachic).

Recommended dose: Take at the beginning of a meal or in between meals. 1 - 2 servings 3 times daily. 1 serving = 1 gram = 1/4 teaspoon.

Cautions and Warnings: Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking any medication or if you have a medical condition. Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding. Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Keep out of reach of children. If you have heart disease, high or low blood pressure, kidney or liver disorder, diabetes or edema (swelling of hands, face, and feet) or are taking products containing diuretics, corticosteroids or licorice, do not use. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have fecal impaction or symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Stop use and seek medical attention immediately if you experience dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness or pain, abnormal heartbeat and or difficulty breathing. Reduce dose or discontinue use if you experience abdominal pain, cramps, spasms and /or diarrhea.

Contra-Indications: Do not use if you have abnormal constrictions of the gastrointestinal tract, potential for intestinal blockage, atonic bowel, appendicitis, inflammatory colon diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, severe dehydration with depleted water or electrolytes or diarrhea. 

Known Adverse Reactions: Hypersensitivity/allergy can occur; in which case, discontinue use. A diuretic effect may occur. Stop use if the laxative effect occurs.
